Anyone know where to replate some gold sabre wheels?

And what type of gold is this? any name on the plating progress?
I want it done at the same way they did it in 56,
need to get the right gold colour.

Thanks

Hi Ian, Yes and no. These were officially offered as leftovers up til '62, but it may have been a dealer install. Most likely an early owner switch. HTH Jeff

I have a 1966 Eldorado convertible which has 5 silver saber wheels. I have some old photos that came with the car showing that the wheels have been fitted for a long time. Were these available as an option for these later models, could they have been a dealer fit?

Where do I look for the 40 or 41 Identification #s on the saber wheels? Second, I think my five wheels are off a 1957 barrittz and will they fit on my 1950 61 series two door hardtop? Please e-mail me back with some answers. Thanks, Leo

One commonly-overlooked difference between the 55-56 era Sabres and the 41098's is the 'drop-center', or inside minimum diameter of the wheel. This is a MAJOR difference between the early and late wheels, allowing the wheel to properly mount over the larger (12") brake drum used in 57 and 58.

This difference is easy to see if you turn a Sabre over (laying on its face) and put a 12" straightedge across the mounting pad, and move the straightedge to the 'wall' of the smallest inside diameter. A 41098 will show an additional 1" on the diameter, while the earlier wheels will barely let the straightedge fit across the diameter.
