The Story of BATILAC – Restoring a 1961 Coupe de Ville
Posted by Lars Schenk in Cadillac Owners on April 21st, 2006
Years ago, when I was growing up in the ‘60s, there was a television cartoon superhero named Batfink. Batfink was a spoof of the campy TV series “Batman”. Batfink drove in the “BATILAC” as he and his sidekick “Karate” saved the world from evil. I grew up loving cars with fins, although our family never owned one.
Fast forward to 1997. Read the rest of this entry »

From Cadillac Fan to Cadillac Man

I had been driving by this little one owner transmission shop a couple times a week, all last summer. I watched this 1970 Coupe Deville go through an updating (new top & paint) and thought to myself.. .that’s gonna be a nice ride for someone.
Toward the end of summer she was FOR SALE. The owner (and wife) were having a baby, momma said “time to get rid of the toy”. FOR SHAME! My father drove my family around for years in a 1969 Sedan Deville, Sure beats a minivan! So… needless to say, I bought it (some assembly required). My children will definitely have the oportunity to enjoy the smoothe ride of Daddy’s bad ass Caddy.

1959 Cadillac Restoration – A Cadillac Resurrected

This is an article I wrote a few years which details my first restorations. Good for a few laughs.
Vic Brincat
Preface
This is an account of my trials and tribulations, successes and failures in the process of restoring a 1959 Cadillac Series Sixty Two Sedan. I wrote this article largely to chronicle many of the (now) humorous events and misadventures as well as to share some of these experiences with interested readers. This article will probably not provide you with many technical details and is not intended as a guideline for anyone attempting a similar restoration. It is merely light-hearted reading material for any one who has owned an older car (that they are proud of) and can relate to many of my experiences. I hope you enjoy it!

Just Purchased 1958 Sedan De Ville
Posted by Lars Schenk in Cadillac Owners on February 3rd, 2004
My wife has recovered her father’s 58 Sedan De Ville. We purchased it from a man who had bought it from her father some 20yrs ago. When we first saw the car it was surrounded by 2″ to 4″ poplar trees….
It was parked there in the forest imprisioned for a couple decades. We live in an airid dry part of Alaska. I was suprised the condition it was in. It’s burried under this winters snowfall.
Next spring we plan to start to an inventory of what we can figure out is missing on the car. It appears to be mostly there. It was spray painted black and looks awful.
We would like to take it back to it’s original pink color. If anyone could give us some advice on where to start this restoration project please emai l us at [email protected].

Geralds 59 Coupe
Posted by Lars Schenk in Cadillac Owners on December 12th, 2003
Hello all, here is Gerald Fourdin’s, one of our Belgium clc members 59 Coupe.
Gerald lives in the “ardens “, the french/moutainside off Belgium , not the most common place to restore a 59 Caddy.
Altough he is only speaking french, and a true “hobby restorer”, he did the job compleet on his own.
I saw the car this summer , and she is realy stunning !
Black is magic !
