I just saw the trailer for the new movie staring Beyonce Knowles that is coming out in December, you may be wondering what that has to do with Cadillac. Just bear with me for a second, the movie is called “Cadillac Records”.

Although the trailer is short there is a bunch of old Cadillacs in the movie. It looks like some late 1950’s Cadillac’s to be exact although it was hard to tell from the trailer. The basis of the movie is about musicians selling so many records you can afford a Cadillac. Since the movie is all about stars like Chuck Berry and Etta James the movie will be filled with Cadillacs from this era.

It will be worth going to see this movie just to see all the Cadillacs.

I am sure there will be a lot more interest in restoration of classic Cadillacs in the near future when the movie bring attention to what great cars these Cadillacs are.

In the next post I will have some more pictures of Cadillacs from the 1950’s as I am receiving a lot of picture request lately which is a good thing.

* On a side note I am looking for someone to take pictures at the Los Angeles auto show, If you are in the area and plan to attend please send me an email.

Lucky for us Earle sent me some pics including one with his 1978 Cadillac flower car.

You can see them on the www.cadillaccountryclub.com homepage and the two pages Pro cars I made which are right under the pictures on the homepage.

Thanks Earle for sending us in these pictures and I promise I will see you at the show next year.

I know it has been a few weeks since I last sent out a newsletter - I am sorry about that. I promise to send it out more often. People have been sending me in a bunch of pictures. I even missed a car show in New Jersey due to being so busy. The next newsletter will have some pretty cool pictures that were sent to me from that show.

Look forward to getting a newsletter in a few days

I would say that I am a preserver not necessarily a restorer. I have these year cars: 63, 66, 70, 75, 76, 77, 79, 80, 84. Yep, that is all of them.

I am also rebuilding a ‘51 engine. The heads have been repaired in the past and I would not mind finding some good ones, also looking for some 30 or 40 over pistons. I am in Modesto, CA.

We are on the way to a full factory spec tier one restoration of this car. Its a great learning expirience. Something we overlooked in the beginning was that the car came with floor mats. Obviously we don’t have any to reference. I am looking for pictures of this floormat or possibly some that I can buy. But mostly I am curious about the emblem in the front. The car came with power windows which was somewhat unusual for this model so I guess I should have looked more carefully to see that the car actually came with front and back floor mats. The chrome has all be replated, the car has been stripped an repainted, and the interior is about to go in. HELP!!! No mats or none to reference. my email czaronson@aol.com

I repaired the electronic power trunk lid pulldown. Before it was put back into the car, the final test should make clear that the switches are working good and that no power is on the motor, when in closed or released position.
This video shows how it operates - the upper switch (used with the finger to make the test) is sensing if the lid was snaped in. The lower switch (connected to the voltometer) is sensing the position of the lift. If the lift is up (lid open) the switch is pressed down. If the lift is down (lid closed), the switch is pulled up. Both switches together are the "brain" of this device… Great ! And remember - this was 1956!
